Bucco and Stanfield Bill Protecting Tax Benefits for Seniors Becomes Law

“The signing of this legislation delivers legitimate property tax relief for senior citizens in New Jersey. The Senior Freeze Program has provided substantial tax benefits that have helped many of our older and retired residents stay in their homes,” said Bucco (R-25). “This law will prevent seniors from incurring massive property tax increases and being disposed of their home for exceeding income limitations during one tax year. This law provides a small, but impactful exemption that will protect tax benefits for seniors in the State of New Jersey.”

“The Senior Freeze program has provided substantial tax benefits that have helped many of our older and retired residents stay in their homes. Today’s Senate vote approving this legislation would prevent seniors from being penalized for exceeding income limitations during one tax year,” said Bucco (R-25). “By providing a one-time income exemption we can protect seniors from incurring massive property tax increases which could dispose them of their home. This bill is an important step towards protecting tax benefits for seniors in the State of New Jersey.”

“New Jersey has a rich agricultural heritage that extends multiple centuries and must be protected for future generations,” said Stanfield (R-08). “Preserving farmland limits the outward expansion of densely populated cities and the fragmentation of natural habitats in rural communities while ensuring residents have access to locally grown farm products. This legislation revises the appraisal process for the sale of development easements on farms to incentivize more landowners to participate in the Farmland Preservation Program.”

“Small-dollar tax refunds and cancellations can create administrative inefficiencies within local governments,” said Stanfield (R-08). “By increasing the dollar limit for authorized municipal employees to process certain transactions, we can streamline this administrative process and reduce unnecessary bureaucratic red tape. This legislation would enable local governments to provide small-dollar refunds and certain cancellations for homeowners more efficiently.”

Corrado & Stanfield Launch “Socks for Soldiers” Collection Drive to Support Troops

Senator Kristin Corrado and Senator Jean Stanfield are teaming up for a “Socks for Soldiers” collection drive throughout the month of March.

“New socks are always in high demand by our troops who serve both at home and abroad,” said Corrado (R-40). “For those in the field, access to clean socks is a necessity to stay healthy. Our sock drive is a wonderful opportunity to acknowledge the sacrifices of our volunteer heroes and show they have support from back home in New Jersey.”
Corrado and Stanfield (R-8) are collecting sock donations at their district offices throughout the month of March. This is the second year they are hosting the drive together.

“Street vending is a valuable entrepreneurial venture that provides numerous economic opportunities for veterans living in New Jersey,” said Stanfield. “Loosening outdated restrictions for licensed street vendors enables them to expand their businesses. This legislation specifically allows certain military veterans to conduct business in areas that would no longer be considered restricted locations.”
